Hi,
I have just uploaded a little update. It is now possible to play a Hansa variant to speed up the setup phase (I have named it "Fast Setup variant"). You have certainly noticed how slow is the setup phase in play-by-web, with very little action. Hansa designer Michael Schacht has suggested this variant: there is only one setup round where all players simultaneously choose the three places for their starting markets. Once all players have taken their setup turn, all markets are revealed and game starts as usual.
You can activate this variant at game creation time by clicking on the variant checkbox.
I had to change quite a bit of code because previous version was not designed to allow for simultaneous turns (but this will come handy for next games), so I really hope this doesn' break anything.
Try it and let's see how it works. If all goes well I plan to move soon from alpha to beta testing, increasing the number of players.
It worked great the one time I've tried it so far. I appreciate the effort to make this little tweak to suit the play-by-web format, and it's great that you got Schacht to bless it.
