Michael Schacht released a variant map (and variant rules for it) for Hansa called Changing Winds.

Considering that only 200 copies of this map were printed, perhaps this variant could appear on MaBiWeb sometime in the future?

Hmm... it seems interesting, but I really can't tell how much work it would be until I know the new rules (but changing the links between the cities would be easy). |

I believe that the new variant rules (for this new map) allow players to move in both directions between two cities. There is a caveat to this new variant: traveling in the direction of the arrow still costs 1 taler, but traveling against the direction of the arrow--a new movement option--costs 2 talers. |

I second this suggestion.
I've recently greatly reduced playing Hansa as a friend and I feel we've come across some strategy/guidelines that make the original map somewhat imbalanced (some spots are significantly more valuable than others) and most of our games result in fighting tooth-and-nail for those spots :D
We enjoy Hansa very much and are eager to see some fresh air blown into the sails with the new map/rules.
Please kindly implement the new map/rules when you get a chance.
Regards,
Tejas |

Since Michael Schacht plays here a lot, it should be easy to get the new rules, right? |

Yes, I've already got the new map and rules from Michael, and I do plan to implement this variant. The work required is not minimal though, not only there are new links but also new ways of scoring points, and some cities have a different number of warehouses. It will probably come after the new game. |

Ah, Cool. I'm looking forward to it, but also more than happy with the current offerings. |

MaBi are you still planning on releasing this variant (map and scoring) for Hansa? |

Yes, I will start working on it after I finish the next game (Kreta). |

I think I may have found a bug. It seems that I am allowed to go from Riga to Danzig when using the Changing Winds variant. |

Going against the direction of the arrow is allowed in the variant, but you have to pay 2 coins. |
