Ok I understand the 'place one marker per turn' to try to prevent your opponent from taking a card. If they do take it it costs them one of their 3 markers.

Part I don't understand is the tokens. I guess in the rules they are referred to as Discs. There are 14 discs and 8 discs are randomly placed at the beginning of the game. Ok in the rules it says you get 1 extra point if you have a matching disc in a color or a matching disc in a symbol (cross, tower, or sword).

So are the discs hidden (in the online version they are only underlined but does the opponent see that?)

OK this is my 3rd game. 1st game I accidentally joined thinking it was Samurai. 2nd game I read the rules but was pretty lost. This game I have a semi-idea of what I'm doing. I just discovered what the numbers mean on the cards...hehe. I missed that reading the rules the first time.

As you have certainly noticed, you can see only your own tokens (discs) in your reserve, opponent's ones are hidden, and the same is true in the scoring table: you can't see opponent's underlines.
For the scoring, they are taken into account only at the end of the game: the running score during the game doesn't count them, but an underline is displayed where you do have a token, so you know where you will gain an extra point at the end.

Yes, knowledge of the rules is often helpful :).
