Hi,
I was just thinking of a way to make the New Electors phase go faster. What if during a players turn in the Actions phase they could flag one of the Aristocrats as their choice for Elector if they win the elector spot?
That way when the New Electors phase comes around the game will automatically put that Aristocrat in the Elector space instead of waiting for a player to chose when there is more than one Aristocrat in that Electorate.
Not sure how difficult that would be to implement, or even if it's a viable idea at all.
Yes, it seems a good idea that could save some turns, and shouldn't be much difficult to do. It would be optional, so if someone really wants to wait and decide at the last moment he still could do that, but yes, this can usually be decided in advance.
It could be somthing like this: anytime during your turn in phase IV you can flag one of your aristocrats as 'preferred elector' (no more than one per region). If in phase V you win an electorate and you have an aristocrat flagged, it will be automatically chosen.
The only potential issue is that 'flagged' aristocrat must be identified in some way, and this could be a bit confusing, especially for newbies (there is no such thing in the real game).
But I will probably add this in some future update.
Similarly, the Emperor could flag a player in each region as his favorite, so that if when selection happens and there's a tie, favorites will be selected automatically. In the event that there's a tie and a favorite isn't involved, the Emperor still has to pick.
As to UI, a phase after you take the Rival or pass where you select your designates, and your nominees are listed under the power table. Likewise, the emperor could just have radio buttons for his favorites.
