I've learned that the last few games. If you choose random and opponent doesn't you've pretty much lost. This is referring to 2 player game. 3 player and 4 players you still have a good chance to win with a random startup.
In face to face games usually everyone plays it random or everyone selects. Since you can enforce on way or the other my advice is if you play 2 player games of samurai on mabiweb to always select your starting hand. |

I am new to the game. If you are playing a two player game and you choose your start tile which ones should you go for and what strategy works best? |

3 samurai, 2 samurai, 2 samurai, 1 ronin and maybe a 1 ship.....then whatever....basically the Edo (one with 3 tokens) is easily captured by opponent if you don't have these to fend it off.
If your new to the game I suggest playing either a 3 or 4 player game instead of a 2 player game as strange as it sounds. |
