To this point I hadn't played any knights on castles. When it became my turn to "Place Gray Eminence", suddenly my knights in Mainz and Brandenburg had been moved onto the castles there.

Game on hold until we here from you.

Looking at the log I can see that your 2 knights in Mainz and Brandenburg were 'moved' there from another region. Trying to replicate your actions I have verified that there is a little quirk in the 'move knight' action. When choosing the destination the interface always place the knight into a castle if there is one available (which is probably what the player always wants) but the blue link is displayed in an aristocrat space.
So, when you moved your knight you clicked on the aristocrat space, because the link was available only there, but the knight was placed into the castle (immediately and not later, you just noticed it now).

I will fix this, because it's certainly confusing, but it doesn't have any real effect on the game (you would obviously have placed the knights in the castle if the link was there), so I think you can go on with the game.

Thanks for reporting this, I have moved around many knights but never noticed it.

Actually I wanted the knights in the aristocrat space. Only a knight there can become a Baron using the Ascension/Promotion card.

Ok, you are right. I have fixed the bug and from now on you should always be able to choose where you want to place your knights.
About your current game, I'm sorry but it would be quite a bit of trouble trying to fix it. If you really need to promote one of those knights, I will try tomorrow.

That's fine. It's a test game. I just wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to see the game state before continuing.

Game on!...

First game complete. No further bugs noticed. I did get used to the Baron/Couple counters, and the table of ownership/control helps a lot.

Yes, purchased actions must be carried out, and I think the implementation enforces that. If you see a case where it is not true please report the game id (but a new bug after all these years seems unlikely).
